Plastic lips to get rid of wrinkles?

Remember those wax lips you used to chew on when you were a kid? Well, they seem to have inspired the latest fad in the anti-aging realm. The Face Slimmer Exercise Mouthpiece is a new device that claims to help you get rid of the wrinkles around your mouth by simply wearing a pair of plastic lips. It's similar to the Thighmaster that was popular during the early 90s, but instead of working your legs, it focuses on your lips.Daily Mail writer Clare Goldwin tried it out to see if it really works.
Loving those lips
The device is little more than a rubber set of lips that fits snugly in the mouth and behind the teeth. The front of the mouthpiece has a big pair of pink lips, which give wearers a decidedly silly look as they work their mouth muscles. According to Goldwin, the makers of the device claim it can tone the skin and eliminate wrinkles, and with a price tag of around $78, it had better deliver on those promises.
Needless to say, the journalist found a few flaws with the device. Though its makers claim you can use the mouthpiece whenever you have a free moment, Goldwin stated she'd feel uncomfortable using them in public, in part because they made her drool.
But what about results? After a week of using the Face Slimmer, the writer commented that she didn't really notice any difference in her appearance. However, she did experience a tenseness in her jaw, and she said the more she wore the device, the more it made her want to gag while exercising her mouth.
Go for the proven techniques
This is yet another example of the silly and sometimes outrageous products that attempt to make a quick buck off of people looking to get rid of facial wrinkles. Instead of wasting your money on a device that may or may not work, why not opt for techniques that have been proven to reduce signs of aging?
A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon will show you that there are many surgical and non-surgical options that can treat facial lines. A facelift procedure offers long-term results that tighten the skin, reducing the appearance of deep facial lines for years. For those seeking something less invasive, Botoxinjections or dermal fillers offer similar results that may not last as long but don't require full surgery.
